Curtis Powers-Ackley, CPA CGMA
As with many, Curt came to Durango for college and never left. At 23, he was CFO of a nearby hospital. After briefly relocating to Fort Collins for graduate school, Curt and his wife returned to Durango, and have never left. He became a licensed CPA in 1988, and has since been developing his expertise in all things tax. Curt was also a professor at his alma mater, Fort Lewis College, and attributes much of his success as a practitioner to his time as a teacher. Curt makes sure his clients are there for more than a periodic transaction; he builds relationships such that he can provide a bespoke service to each of them.
Spencer Powers-Ackley
If only because it wasn’t cool to be like your parents, Spencer knew he would never be an accountant. However, pragmatism took over, and in 2014 Spencer graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting Concentration. Since joining the firm in 2015, Spencer has been learning from Curt’s 30+ years of experience, while bringing modern technology and methods into the process. While he’d rather be watching “The Accountant” starring Ben Affleck in his spare time, he is instead currently studying for the CPA exam to become an even better resource for his clients.
